3 dreams

My apartment was without internet for 4 days or so thanks to Time Warner's incompetence. To recap, I have some crazy dreams I need to write down:

1) watch this video first:

It's a Scrubs' version of Charlie Brown Christmas. I haven't watch it for a while but I dunno why I had a dream about it. Exact same plot but with the actual cast of Scrubs dressing up as Peanuts' characters!!! It is priceless to see Dr Cox being short and a kid sucking his thumb! If there's any dreams I want to come true this would be it!! I actually wake up afterward searching on Youtube hoping it actually exist somewhere!

2) I was at Barcade the other night and immediately afterward I have a dream about it. In the dream I was obviously playing arcade games in Barcade, but stumble upon a secret entrance. It lead to another room with cages upon cages of gorillas in captivity! It was such a sad scene and I have to free them! Problem is I am only one person and the fact that I can't pick the locks! I couldn't get them out and they look like they were crying! Luckily Diddy Kong showed up out of nowhere and using his banana gun he freed all of them! We lead them into a jungle, but they were all hungry and need food. I was trying to figure out how to grow banana as they nowadays don't have any seed in them. That was the question I had when I woke up~ ha~

3) 2D character in a 3D world is always interesting. I always wonder if the backside of that 2D character is any different from the front. I was dreaming of this 2D flat paper dog that "slide" around the house. Since it is "sliding" it tend to follow something linear as if they are tracks, like pipes outside the wall, columns, etc. I have this desire to catch it and fold it up so I was following it. Unfortunately it's sliding on the roof going from building to building via cable and electricity lines. To get a clear view I fly high on the sky, but I over did it and floated so high up in the air that I can't see it, not to mention I can't get down. I got lost in the sky!

Robin Sparkles sing again!

One of the character, Robin, in How I Met Your Mother was a Canadian pop sensation back in the late 80s to early 90s. Yesterday's episode uncovered one of her lost music video from the past! It's hilarious because the music video is filled with cliché of songs from that era, completed with an appearance by Tiffany!! Robin is such a different person now in comparison only makes it even funnier.

Sandcastles in the Sand

The show has been taking a lot of heat lately from royal fans because of the sudden appearance of high profile guest stars like Britney Spears to this episode's Mr. Dawson's Creek James Van Der Beek. It was rare from the show's 3 years history. Fans accused the show of being a sell out and becoming the kind of show that rely on special guest stars like the later days of Friends or Will&Grace. But to me I think the show has done it right. The guest stars were never the center of the storyline of the episode, they never overshadow the main characters, and unlike other shows they blend in rather well - even for Britney! So if using a few guest stars without hurting the integrity of the show and at the same time raise the profile and awareness of the show - I'll say why not?

Restaurants in my dream

I had a weird dream about friends, road trip, and Japanese restaurants:

Just like in real life a bunch of us are in a car driving to someplace to shop or eat. Herbert is always the one that's driving. We were driving on a long boulevard that never seems to end, and it's one of those road that goes from wide multi-lanes avenue slowly getting narrower, until to the end, the road and the sidewalk are indistinguishable. Buildings on both side towering the road, with big billboard signs everywhere kind of like in Hong Kong or Japan. Stores on both sides are all Japanese though, mainly restaurants but there were boutiques and toy stores as well. Through the window I saw the restaurants are exceptionally good! I was drooling all over for the awesome food that they are offering.

Unfortunately we didn't stop, we didn't sit down and eat until the very next day in the restaurant underneath the hotel far away from that cluster of Japanese stores. However, it doesn't mean the restaurant here is not up to the standard! The place is gorgeous like an East Asian palace! When we sat down there was already appetizers for us. I am not talking about standard appetizers, but a bowl of huge udon with lobsters and scallop! The menu was amazingly rich with any delicious choices you can possible think of! And yet I was still disappointed that we didn't stop and go to the restaurants on that street the night before. And I didn't even find out where was it or the name of the town. Why didn't I use the Google map on my iPhone at the moment? Even if I find out where is this particular hotel, I wouldn't be able to figure where were we the night before. Anyway, I looked at my iPhone, it indicated that we are at the location of Southeastern Pennsylvania, at a peninsula that the tip of it was connected to the other side by a gigantic suspension bridge! And that bridge was the reason we were on this road trip, Herbert really wanted to see that bridge so that he drove us all there!

In the end I didn't figure out where that street full of Japanese stores were. It's still in the dreamland somewhere waiting for me to go visit again.

Obscure celebrity sighting

Another celebrity sighting happened today after lunch when I was in H&M searching for vest and skinny tie. However, I doubt anyone would know who he is~ Anyone saw the movie Love Actually? that British romantic comedy with tons of characters? Well, one of the smaller character, the ordinary guy named Colin who's obsessed with sex and wanted to go to America to date women that dig British accent! He ended up going to Wisconsin and met 3-4 pretty women and brought them back to London! Anyway, I don't even know the actor's name (and I didn't bother to look it up) since he's really quite ordinary. He's with a girl shopping in H&M.

Yeah, I know, a pointless boring post! haha~ It would be only of interest for film buff to see if they remember this tiny little character from that movie! I am just in no mood writing anything lately, my skin treatment is really hurting me, my skin is so dry that it's coming off my face and there are dry marks on my limbs. I am in pain even when I put lotion on my face. The only thing I want to do is being obsessive about fashion, you know I was obsessed with spring scarves, now I am onto vest and skinny tie and, once again, Japanese hair wax! I think the obsession comes with the hope that once the whole treatment is done, and a little extra income soon, with some new clothing and everything will come together nicely. I think that is why I am so obsessed with these accessories to update my "looks", subconsciously I am preparing for when this painful treatment ended and the new looks in my mind is what I am looking forward to.

Two ads

I think Judy Greer is terrific, I love her in all her supporting roles in those romantic comedies. I was surprise she showed up in Apple's Get A Mac ad though...cos it never really featured any other stars no matter big or small other than Mac and PC themselves. This wasn't a particular funny commercial comparing to the previous Get A Mac ads, but if you see the next ad I am showing after, you will prefer it 100 times more so than the second ad I am showing.

This other ad I am showing you is Microsoft's Vista ad.......seriously when I first saw it I did not believe it is real! I thought just someone jokingly made it and pretend to be an official ad coming out of Microsoft, but apparently it is real, which makes it even more so scarier! Someone please erase this unbearable ad from my memory!!!!

Scarf mania

I think becoming liaison to the fashion department at work is not doing me any good at all. Cos given how serious I take my job, you know I am going to spend a lot more time getting to know the subject matters so that I can communicate with faculty and students better. Now I know I have fashion sense, but I don't have any formal training nor knowing any terminology or methodology of the industry, the workflow and such. I know I have a lot to learn so I started going through the textbooks, the periodicals, the electronic resources, anything I can get my hands on. You might say so far so good, what's wrong with the whole picture, well, what's wrong is that the more I know about fashion, the more I want to shop the things I saw!!!! I become obsessed with the latest trends, color themes and patterns. So far I have been showing an incredible amount of restraint on my part, but i dunno how long I can last until I start buying like crazy!

Anyway, so the latest fashion trend that I am obsessed about is scarf. Scarf? isn't it a bit late when the weather is fast changing from winter to spring to summer? Actually no, I am not talking about scarves that keep you warm, I am talking about the skinny scarf for spring! It's accessory of the moment and its all about style. It's so versatile that you can use it with any style. From formal to casual, from wearing it with a jacket to shirt to just tees or, in some case, nothing at all! And of course the more I read about it the more I notice it on the streets, in stores, and on celebrities. It's everywhere! So today, I just can't help it, my defense totally break down. I went on a scarf hunting trip in Soho with Scott. We walked through so many different stores. I ended up with two - while he ended up with 5! :p

On a side note, I come to the conclusion that if you want to find XS or pants or jeans waist under 28, you need to go to some expensive brands! I have been shopping at the wrong places! No wonder I can't find jeans that's smaller than 28! It's not gonna be in Express, Uniqlo or H&M, they are all hidden in Diesel, Club Monaco, and I bet Zara, Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole and such would have it too! You see it's all about the demographic. The more expensive the brands are, the more fashion conscious their customers are, and they would definitely be thinner than the brands that targeted at general public! Hence my conclusion! I need to earn more money, so that I can buy clothes that can fit me!

New Umbrella

I come across this new product - Nubrella - a hand-free umbrella that make you looks like a bubble boy.  Part of me think it looks silly, but then the lazy part of me think it's brilliant that I don't have to hold an umbrella not to mention it's not gonna invert and break like a regular umbrella when facing the wind.  In my opinion it lacks a killer feature that if they have it built in I will surely get one - air-conditioned built in!!! hahaha! It could double as a personal cooling system if they have AC built in! ooh I am so gonna get that!

Fashion Formula

Now that I am officially the liaison for the Fashion department at work, and with the compliment I received last week.  I expected I will get a question eventually.  So I have prepared a statement just in case someone somehow ask me THE question.

Q: What's the secret to my style?
A: It's no secret really, my style is easy and affordable.  I have a formula for my style: It's a little bit of hipster, a little bit of Asian, add some European, and a dash of gay.
Q: Can you go into details?
A: In a plain shoppers' term for you muggles out there. It means mix and match clothing from the following locations: Brooklyn Industries or any second hand stores and street vendors in Williamsburg + Uniqlo, Muji, any Japanese stores and anything you can pick up from your trip in Hong Kong and Japan + H&M, Mexx or other European brands + small boutiques in Chelsea (focus on accessories)

And the most important ingredient to pull this look off - you have to be skinny~ :p

Boring form filling drove me out

I needed to fill out a complicated form which would require me to put in as much as 12 different references.  I am luckily enough to have many friends that knows me well enough to help.  But still the process is tedious.  They required all these references from different period and aspect of my life.  Putting the right person for the right area of reference is like playing a game of sudoku!

Filling out this form required me to dig through all sort of information about myself and it is the weirdest experience.  It's like a boring lesson of Harry's history! Memories, faces, conversations all pop up along with the pieces of paper or dates that i dig up from files.  It's going to take me a few days to get the whole thing done.  So today while I was working on it.  I look out the window and see how gorgeous a day it is.  I didn't want to waste a day indoor to fill out a form!  But at the same time, I don't have any plans or any place to go.  On top of that I just don't want to spend any money.  So I choose to just take a walk in the neighborhood.

Greenpoint is changing fast.  Just a walk around the neighborhood let me discovered at least 2 new restaurants, two new bars, a few more boutiques and furniture stores that I didn't know about before.  They are just a block or two away from me!  The restaurant 68 looks interesting, so is the bar "t.b.d."(To be determined).  I noticed all of the newer stores all pop up on Franklin and West St instead of the main street of Greenpoint - Manhattan Ave.  It seems like a new Greenpoint with hip restaurants and bars and creative class emerged separately away from the traditional main commercial zone of Manhattan Ave.  This main avenue serves the need of the old neighborhood while Franklin and West slowly become the main avenues of the new Greenpoint.  A few big developments are also spotted during my walk in the 'hood, including the giant condo site on Green and another one on West.  I guess compared to Williamsburg and LIC, Greenpoint isn't much yet, but it is going somewhere.  I just hope I don't get price out and will be able to see the neighborhood to continue to evolve even better than now.

Best compliment of the day:
