German

I just crack up over and over again every-time i re-watch this clip! I just couldn't stop laughing!
It's obvious that the commercial is funny, but i guess it also have to do with that it remind me of A so very much~ silly German boi~

:p

X-Men

Besides Transformers, I am also watching X-Men the animated series as well. This set I got it from my friend a while ago and watched pieces here and there, never in exact order. Now I am planning to watch all episodes in order plus the two movies before X3's release into the theater at the end of May. I have to confess I had ever read the comics, the only knowledge I had of X-Men was when the animated series was on FOX and the 2 movies in theater. I am continue to be amazed by the rich universe of X-Men, it's so much more interesting than the other superheros. Part of the appeal lies in the ensemble cast, but being the metaphor of racism and homosexuality or any minority groups give it a deeper meaning than other comic book heroes. I m super excited about the new movie, I really hope the new director won't screw up the rather excellent adaptation Brian Singer did with the first two movies.

Transformers

I got the transformers episodes and started to watch it~ I dunno if anyone else remember this infamous 80s cartoon, but seeing it again just make me have a big smile on my face - it is enjoyable even if some of the dialogues are totally lame and corny!!
A real-live action movie is in the work - I wonder how they gonna do with soundwave's character - he's a transformer that can transform into a cassette tape recorder! i keep on thinking to myself when i saw his character in the cartoon: " this is not gonna work in the movie!! who uses tape players anymore!!" Seriously, to put it in the movie is just so not the 21st century.......will they make him into an ipod transformer instead?? but wait! he's a decepticons! ipod can't be evil! :p

update: great!!! now I can't get the them song out of my head!!! "transformers - more than meets the eyes..."

random thoughts from HRC event

I went to an HRC meet and chat event on Friday with new friend E. E is a lawyer and I am a librarian, the difference between is so apparent in a social event like this. A lawyer make a living by talking while a librarian is famous to make a sheesh sound and tell people No talking. So as you can tell E was going around chatting people up to the point that the lesbians think he was hitting on them! lol~ I was quiet in comparison, but i did make the afford to chat with ppl once E break the ice with whatever group that we were chatting. The crowd was a bit older and they are 90% lawyers or have to do with law some how, so i think my occupation actually sounded interesting to a lot of them in comparison~ lol~ It was fun, especially E's classmates from harvard that we ran into~

two things stand out from the event - one: I can see I am still a hit for the older crowd - judging from the looks i got from a number of 55+ people and I got hit on by a professor of law from CUNY! yeah, it was crazy~ when the guy gave me his card - the only thing i can come up with to reject him without being rude was to say I don't have any cards~ but anyhow, It was an interesting event.

the other thing that happened in the event is that I saw B's friend there, and that freaks me out cos the idea that B might be around just isn't something that I prepare for~ I rush out of there before I confirm if B was actually there or not~ I rather not risk my current well-being cos who knows what will he say or what will i feel when i see him again~

Bowling

Bowling is pretty much the only sport that i don't mind playing - because it's indoor and air-conditioned and often have music and food at the same time~ lol~ I went bowling again this weekend, a small group, only 5 of us, but it was as fun as usual even though I am still suck at it. First game I got 0 three times in a row! it was so embarrassing! I got a bit better afterward when Sean made up pretend prizes: First place would get 10 million dollars, Second place would get a trip for two to any Disneyland in the world, third place would be a chess set from Target with gift receipt! fourth place would get a handheld plastic pencil sharpener, and fifth will get honorary mentioned. With pretend prizes on our minds - we went nuts, and I so didn't want to get honorary mentioned, so I was aiming for the pencil sharpener and guess what I did move up to fourth place in the last round!!! LOL~ yeah it was pathetically fun like that~ hehe

My right hand hurt a lit more than usual afterward though because I couldn't find a bowling ball that has the ideal weight that fit me, the ones that i was forced to use was much heavier than I can deal with~ but it's small price to pay for a fun afternoon~

P.S. I did have a better score than JD in a recent episode of Scrubs where he got only 40! :p

Wiki

Despite the recent controversy of the accuraucy of Wikipedia, I found myself still enjoy reading its articles. Its articles are much more in detail and diverse in comparsion to traditional encycopedias. Look at my recent search in Wikipedia and you'll see what I am talking about: X-Men, Per Se, Flatrion Building, Scrubs, Apple Computer, LOTR, Teddy Geiger, Issac Asimov... You can find almost anything in it and yet all the articles contain so much information, it's definitely a fun read for any knowledge-hungry nerd~ You'll learn a thing or two no matter what~

Outburst

Second A was here in the library studying, haven't see him for a while, I pretty much forget about him since so much happened over the last few weeks. Once again he didn't look my way or acknowledge my existence at all. That pretty much pissed me off~ I used to think that I scare him off and place all the blames on myself. I did the same thing with B and excused all coldhearted hurtful behavior because I always thought he's a nice guy. Well you know what, that time is over, no matter if it's B in the past or this Second A German guy, why can't I think of them as bastards? It's my point of view! I'll do whatever I like, I don't have to keep on thinking everything is my fault! I don't care if I know in reality they are nice person, if for whatever reason they ignore me like I don't exist, that's enough for me to justify thinking them as bastards! Why do I have keep on thinking of excuses for whoever that treat me bad? I don't have to be nice to everybody and being considerate to others' feeling and situations in my own mind! (or in my own blog for that matter!) I am tired of thinking it's my fault that things don't work out, it's my fault that they ignore me and hate me! I no longer torture myself with thoughts like that you Bastards with pretty faces! yeah that's who they really are! Bastard-coated bastards with bastard fillings! just like Dr. Cox's view of people in Scrubs!

ooo, it feels good to have a bastard word bashing like this!

PC games

I think I am craving for playing computer games. I haven't play a PC game properly ever since I move out and only have my powerbook with me. Once in a while when I went back to my parents I would play Civ 4 on my bro's computer, but needless to say I can't even finish one game with that little time. Not that I am that much of a gamer, since there's only very few games that i like to play. But still, lately I really want to play some games.

The games I like are so few that I can named them all:

Animal simulations:
it's pretty much just Zoo Tycoon series all along, although the preview of the up coming Wildlife Park 2 looks promising as well.
City building games:
Once again there's just one: Simcity series, there used to be the CIty-building series game such as Caesar, but the company is long gone now.
Turn-based Strategy games:
Earth based - Civilization!!! (2 more months until the mac version!!)
Space bound - Alpha Centauri, Master of Orion - both titles are pretty much dead now. Lately I heard about the glowing reviews of Galactic Civilizations 2, which really make me want to check it out!

and that's pretty much it, I mean I would check out real-time strategy games once in a while too, like Age of Empires and even LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth are great series, but they tend to never last long compare to Civ and Simcity and such.

Most the these games that I mention eventually make it to the mac side after 6-months to a year, but still, the wait is just painful. Apple's new intel-based macs and boot camp software make it much possible to play since mac can boot into windows now, but that doesn't help me much unless I am buying a new mac. So my only option is still waiting for the mac version for most games.

Haircut

I went to get a haircut this weekend, maybe it's spring or maybe it's just their job, they just love to cut your hair short no matter what you told them. So now my hair is shorter than what I wanted, and I have no idea what to do with it. I love the creative space of styling from a medium length hair, that's why I always insist never too short so that I can have many different styles each of the day. But now, seriously I was fooling around with my hair for like 15 mins every morning and none of the outcome is satisfying. I know this is a non issue for many guys, but you all know how picky i am when it come to fashion and style. luckily hair always grow back, but until then, you'll hear me bitching about it everyday.

bummed

I was bummed that the second hang out didn't happen, even though he called and told me he's just too busy to do anything, it should be a good enough reason, but still... I know I won't be hanging out with him for the next few weeks until he finished his finals, this "gap" could very well be the end of it if he don't call me back a few weeks later. With that and the fact that my powerbook is still in repair, I was very disappointed today. I was gonna go to the movies to have good laugh with Ice Age 2, but my friend is busy so it didn't happen. I sat in union sq for a couple hours, just to think things through, wondering why I am so not good at this relationship dating social thing. Couldn't figure it out, went home and i watched LOTR the Two Towers again. The speech Sam gave toward the end about keep on fighting because there's still hope - that grabbed my attention - I was like, damn it fat hobbit, i guess I can't give up on hope, i'll find what i want, if not this time, then the next, eventually one day it will happen.

The days without my powerbook

My powerbook is at Apple's repair center in Texas, i miss it so much. I am using the 10 lbs monster dell laptop that i borrowed from work as my temporary computer at home until I get the powerbook back. And let me tell you, this suck so much. First of all, I never have a charger for my cellphone to use here because I bought my phone from Hong Kong, so the charger that it came with is not compatiable with the outlet here. I didn't get one that can be use for here because I can also charge my phone through USB, which I had been doing so. I plug my phone into the Dell thinking that it's just gonna charge just like the powerbook, I was wrong and I didn't realize it until yesterday when the battery of my phone went down to red - almost gone! I almost had a heart attack thinking about if I can't get it charge! it's my only phone, i don't have a landline and I am waiting still waiting for an answer from the guy that I ask out the second time! After a lot of thinking I realize the problem. When things (well, not old things) plug into OSX, it just works instantly, not so much to stupid windows machines. I totally forgot that in Windows world, everything you have to do it yourself. I had to go to Sony Ericsson's website, found the matching driver for my phone, install it before I can get it charge!
I was also not use to that the keyboard doesn't light up pretty at night like my powerbook, the screen is not widescreen and the quality sucks big time. I can't check the weather with one push of a button to get to dashboard, now i have to surf to a weather website to find it. There's no check-spelling-as you type feature across the programs. No built-in dictionary pop up. In windows world there's no good RSS feeder compared to NetNewsWire like in Mac is also very annoying to me as well. Then there's other not so Mac-related issue, but just my-computer-is-not-here issues such as i can access my data, my stuffs. And one last thing - since I borrow this computer from work, it comes with administrative restrictions - I can't install stuff on this computer - I was planning to play Civ 4 since this is a Window machine!! This sucks!! It's the only game that make me miss a Window machine and now that I am on a temporary window machine and I still can't play!? Luckily mac version of Civ 4 is coming out in 2 months...

UGH......come on my powerbook baby...please come back to me soon! I miss ya!

I guess they heard me!

I was just complaining yesterday about the lack of anything interesting coming from Apple for its 30th birthday~ well well, I guess they heard it loud and clear~ Today they dropped the bombshell that's as big as the move to Intel chips! Allowing Windows to boot in Macs with an Apple created program: Bootcamp! There's nothing new of booting into Windows, the hackers showed the way last month, but what's special today is Apple pretty much give the thumbs up to users to boot the mac using Windows! even though they said they are not offically supporting Windows since they don't sell it or load it with Macs, but if they make it this easy to use windows on Mac, what's the dif?
Not that this will make a huge different to a mac user who's totally loving OSX, but the idea of able to play Window games again is definitely sweet!!

yo, where's the big celebration man!

Apple's 30th birthday come and gone~ so where's the big celebration? where's the special announcement? where's the new products? No Steve?? just quietly go through the week? all i get is 10.4.6 OSX update and yet more exclusive albums and more TV shows on iTMS?? hey I am disappointed i'll tell ya'll~

How to ask someone out second time around?

If you seek answer to this question, then you are in the wrong place, cos I don't have an answer.

Ask someone out second time around is no small task, it's as difficult as when you first ask someone out, or even more so. (At least for a guy to another guy)
After the first time going out, you had a great time, but you have no idea what the other one think, maybe it's not so great with him, maybe he think it was more of a hang out than a date. You would have no idea, you could just guess - that's nerve-wrecking enough already. On top of that, now you have to think about what should you do next. Obviously you want to see that person again since you had a great time. But how do you ask him out second time around? what kind of tone you should use? If you make it sound too causal, then since it's a guy to a guy, he could mistaken it as you just want to hang as friends only (straights would be so much easier on this alone, if a guy ask a girl out, in MOST cases, he want to be more than friends), but if you make it sound a little bit too eager almost to the point of needy, not only you are giving out too much pressure, if the person is not interested in the same way, then you come off as a freak. if the asking part not giving you a nervous breakdown, then the waiting for the answer part will definitely do it. Cos the ANSWER, either it tells you that you are going on a second date, or it's gonna tell you the first time you two went out, it wasn't a date! See how extreme that is?!

As for me, i wasn't playing it causal, nor i made it sound too eager, I was just direct, stated what I wanted to do, leave enough space and then waiting for the answer. Still waiting...

(hey don't judge me, leaving a voicemail is less nerve-wrecking than asking in person!!)

A Good time

I went out with someone new last night, well, it's probably more of a hang out than a date (at least from my experiences most ppl want to hang out with me instead of date me, so after a while I just consider everything a hangout - it makes the disappointment more bearable if nothing works out ) I had a really good time. We went out to an art gallery, then have some great Japanese food, then went to Australian Homemade for some great ice-cream, then a restaurant bar for some Appletini. It was fun, great conversation. I wonder if there will be any possibilities with this guy...

Happy Birthday Apple!!!

Happy 30th Birthday!!!!! I wish you all the best!!! Keep up the good works!!
